Tell us about yourself?
I am a follower of Christ, Husband, Father and Engineer. I have been married to my High School sweetheart, Ashlie, for 5 1/5 years. We have 2 children and one on the way. You can find Braxton and Addy running around Fellowship Hall on any given DV8 Wednesday night. We own a small farmette in Oregon. Where we raise pigs and chickens.
I enjoy having meaningful conversations, working with my hands on projects around the home, and reading.
Fun fact:
Every year, I bike 150 miles over 2 days to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis
When did you begin serving at DV8?
I began helping with DV8 in the fall of 2015.
What is your favorite part of DV8?
My favorite part is small group times when you can see the students are engaged and are learning something new in application or theory of God's Word.
Why serve this age group?
As a high schooler, I struggled with my faith. I turned to my parents, my uncle, youth leaders, and Pastors to find answers to my questions. I came to the conclusion that God was real but that is where I ended my journey for a period of time. It was not till after college and getting married that I actually went searching for a relationship with God. God call parents to be the primary spiritual instructors of the household. I hold this belief firmly. I don't think my role as a leader should be the only discussion the students have about God on a weekly basis. My hope in being a leader at DV8 is to be there to help answer some of these questions while encouraging them to seek answers in the Bible and from their parents.

“I Was, I Am, I Will Be” is the title of my message that I’ll be sharing or have shared (depending on when you’re reading this) on Sunday, Dec. 30. I’ve had more than my fair share of time to think and pray about what God would have me say in the last message of 2018.
I don’t think there are too many people who don’t have regrets about mistakes made in the past. I have quite a few myself. Whether they be the simple mistakes of grade school like talking too much and being sent out of class to sit in the hall. I can still hear the kids saying “Ohhhhhhh” as I got put out on my ear. Or the larger mistakes of getting into car accidents or parenting mishaps that I dare not say without enough back story to ease my seared conscience.
But I’m grateful for all those things I’ve learned and for the fact that I don’t need to be defined by them. Why? Because we have such a great Savior who has given us a new identity in Himself. Galatians 2:20 says, “For I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
You see, where I see “sinner”, Jesus calls me “saint” (Eph. 1:1). When I see “alone”, Jesus calls me “friend” (Jn. 15:5). When I see “incomplete” Jesus says I am complete in Him (Col. 2:10). When I see “worthless” Jesus says I am worthy, worthy enough to die for me (John 3:16).
This year, instead of all the resolutions or lofty but temporal goals, how about we strive to remember who we are in Christ and to help remind others of the same? I would love to see that be realized in this coming year! Phil. 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
